What is this? I’ve been hearing this used in some communities that I’m in. I thought I knew what it meant but I was confused. It kept being used when someone was talking about how they worked so hard for this thing they got but they felt like they didn’t deserve it.
Wait.
What?!?
You wanted something.
You worked for it.
You got it.
How do you not deserve it?
I realize that there may be more to it than that. There may be a whole back story and other psychological components to it.
I had to look this up to make sure I had an understanding of what it is.
The Cambridge dictionary defines impostor syndrome as the feeling that your achievements are not real or that you do not deserve praise or success. (https://dictionary.cambridge.org/us/dictionary/english/impostor-syndrome)
Wait.
What?!?
You wanted something.
You worked for it.
You got it. You achieved it.
How do you not deserve it?
I know I may be making it seem so simple, but isn’t it?
Chime in. Let me know your thoughts and/or experience with impostor syndrome.
