Impostor Syndrome part deux

A little while ago, I wrote about Impostor Syndrome. Here is the link if you want to read it https://katrinaswaves.com/2024/09/01/impostor-syndrome/.

Last month, we had a series of seminars and webinars at work to enhance our development.

I don’t remember which talk it was or what the topic was, but in one of those talks, I had another thought about impostor syndrome.

Hear me out.

What if what you’re really feeling is the weight of the responsibility you hold after your achievement?

If you worked hard to get promoted and achieve that promotion, you think that is it. My work is done here.

After the hype settles, you realize that you are at a different performance expectation than before. This is especially true if you have people reporting to you or hold a public facing position.

It seems like you can’t do this new thing.

BUT, you were already doing the new thing. The skills and ability are already inside of YOU.

It was just finally recognized and rewarded…as deserved.

You are not an impostor.

You wanted something.

You worked for it.

You achieved it.

AND

You deserve it.

Now, rise to the occasion.
