I’m Katrina, and I’m so glad you’re here.

I’m a wife, mom of two (plus one beautiful dog), and a lifelong lover of words and word games.

I grew up in church, and my faith has always been the steady anchor through every changing tide.

I like to think of myself as a balanced optimist. I not only spot the silver lining, but I also see the beauty in the cloud.

The name Katrina’s Waves is a little nod to the band Katrina and the Waves. Like their hit song says, I try to keep “walking on sunshine” no matter what life brings.

Around here, the “waves” are life’s own: the highs, the lows, and everything in between. This is my canvas for reflection, connection, and conversation.

An interpretation of me drawn by my daughter when she was 10.

Sometimes I write to celebrate the good stuff. Other times, I write to work through the rougher tides. Occasionally, I just drop by to say hello — a friendly wave your way.

Writing and reading have been lifelong passions of mine. This space gives me a way to share my writing, openly and honestly. It’s a place where I can be myself in all seasons. I invite you to do the same.

Outside of the page, I also spend time streaming on Twitch — talking, laughing, and connecting in real time. It’s another way I enjoy sharing stories and building community, just in a different format.

My hope is that this blog (and the stream) serves as a reminder that even in life’s choppy waters, we can still dance in the sunshine.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you’ll stay awhile and ride a few waves with me.
