Earlier this year, I had a bout of fatigue and migraines. I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in 2018 and both are symptoms of MS. Even though I hadn’t had migraines for months and thought I had the fatigue under control, having either is not unusual for me. I had been feeling pretty good, so I was not expecting this sudden hit.
The year started with two people on my team resigning to pursue other opportunities better suited for their lives. They were good people, and good workers, so I hated to see them go. I can usually pinpoint any change in my health to something I ate, lack of sleep, or stress. I thought my stress level processing those departures was the culprit.
It took me 5 days of having migraines and thinking through what could be causing them to connect it to my vitamin D intake.
When my vitamin D is low, I experience fatigue, and sometimes migraines. I have a high dose prescription from the doctor and then take a regular dose if my levels are good. I had run out of my prescription and was slacking on taking the regular dose. I guess this happened because I was super busy but really, I need to do better. Anyway, I filled my prescription and took it at dinner. Magically…or more appropriately, medically…I woke up with no migraine and with more energy. From then on, I’ve been taking my daily dose as intended because why have migraines and fatigue if you don’t have to.
