As I sit here, I think about how I can look different depending on the mirror I look into.
Is it the room’s lighting, or a tint on the mirror, that makes it look different?
In one, my skin looked healthy and tanned.
In another, I looked almost jaundiced.
Could it be that the mirror I use can reflect an untrue image?
The purpose of a mirror is to alert you to anything that is amiss in your appearance or to help you see areas that you cannot otherwise see.
But seeing myself differently depending on which room I was in when I looked in the mirror made me wonder if I can really trust what I see.
I mean, which mirror is giving me the true reflection?
They both were.
I need something outside of myself to show me what I can’t see on my own.
Even with the differences, I could still see myself and assess my appearance.
I could fix an out-of-place hair, clean my nose, or pluck a hair based on what I saw reflected.
The mirror gives me information, but it’s up to me to act on it.
What is the mirror showing you?
How will you respond?
